My guitar teacher calls me Karen. I was too shy to correct him when he first made the mistake. He has called me Karen for weeks. I should have corrected him right away, but it's too late now. I'm shy at the stupidest times, and I feel like an idiot.

My parents visited last weekend. Dad helped Ernie work in the yard and prepare a spot for our shed, which is arriving Thursday. Ernie had a co-worker help him dig holes for fence posts and put them in. They are actually finishing that up...

Ernie and I will soon have a fenced in back yard and a shed. I don't think people fully realize how major this is. We have no garage, no outside storage of any kind right now. Do you know where that means things like our generator and lawn mower stay? *turns around and looks behind me* Yeah...they are in the computer room. Yikes. At least we have the basement for things like shovels and stuff, but having a shed is going to be a dream. Also, a fenced in yard will mean just opening the door and letting...

I usually do the cooking, except on Sunday mornings. Either Ernie makes a big breakfast, or we go out to the diner. For a change of pace, I offered to make pancakes. Although I have eaten many pancakes, I've never made them myself, not even from a mix. I had found a recipe that sounded good though, so I gave it a whirl. I had sort of a rocky and slightly messy start, but Ernie helped me get into the swing of things, and the pancakes got better as I went along. They were really good! I still...

It appears that Jasper is getting along well with Simon. After being together for 8 days, I discovered that they had laid eggs! They are currently eating the eggs...which is funny, as they are being so protective of them and chasing off the other fish that dare come near them. I guess if anybody is going to eat their babies, it's them.

I really wasn't expecting my fish to breed, and I really don't think I have the time to get involved in raising baby fish...but...

I think he is a gold angel. Here is the story of how he ended up with me:

I went to the fish store Wednesday night. After Jerry died suddenly on Monday morning, Jasper was behaving in a way that made it obvious he was lonely, so I wanted to get him a new friend. I was planning on getting another marble angel, like Jasper. Unfortunately, all of the marble angels...

As the title says, my angelfish Jerry died. It was completely out of the blue, he looked fine and had been acting perfectly normal.

Once I got downstairs this morning, I took the dogs out and turned on the aquarium light. Jerry and Jasper (the other angelfish) immediately zoomed up to the top, knowing that they were about to be fed. They ate like pigs and then continued cruising around the tank together, same as always.

I made and packed Ernie's lunch and then sat...

I'm getting so frustrated with myself. Leaving the house is hard for me lately because my worrying has gone to new levels. It used to be that just giving a quick push on the doorknob to ensure I'd locked the door was enough. That's not the case anymore. I stand there and grasp the doorknob for awhile, attemping to open it for about ten seconds. After I convince myself it is secure, I shut the screen door and verify that it is latched. That doesn't do me much good though, as I begin to question whether...

I had a guitar lesson today at 5:00, which is when work ended. The guy I take lessons from lives super close to where I work, so it's cool. Today though, I had a gentleman come into the office to see me at about 4:55 to drop off some plans and a check. The office to process the check was already shut down, so I did up a receipt for him and decided to hang onto the check until tomorrow.

Where to put the check until then? I decided to just put it in my top desk drawer, which is sort...

I think this was the first Father's Day I didn't see my dad. I spent four weekends away from home last month, and I got to spend two of those with him, including time with my sister when we got to give him his Father's Day present (Guitar Hero III), so I stayed home. I'm really wishing I would have gone now though.

My newt Oscar died today. Dad went to clean his aquarium early this afternoon, and Oscar was dead. I got him in August of 1999, not long before starting my senior year of...

It appears there is another girl who is sweet on Ernie. They have known each other since they were babies, their moms were friends. She recently got divorced and moved back to the area, and she calls him a lot, and they are going to a concert together at the end of the month. Friends do that, it doesn't sound bad so far, right? So why am I so upset?

I became suspicious of her intentions when she called Ernie's phone one day while we were out buying...

I haven't been home for the past three weekends. Last weekend, I was at my parents' house, since my sister had come down for a visit. The weekend before, Mom and I went to Lansing for sort of a "just because" trip, which also happened to be Mother's Day weekend. The weekend before, I was cat-sitting. Six cats, oh my gosh. It was great though. All three weekends were great.

Even though I've been doing fun stuff and have been with my family, I feel weird being away...

I scratched my aquarium. The stupid green spot algae on the back of the tank that could be seen at certain angles was bugging me. I had been unable to scrape it off with an old health insurance card, so I had to use the razor blade on a handle I bought months ago but was too nervous to use because I was afraid I'd scratch the aquarium. Ha. At least it's on the back and on the bottom, and I think you can only see it from one angle...but it's probably a couple inches long and bugs the heck out...
