U2 has spoiled me forever

Posted 09-02-2005 at 05:29 AM by drumkeeran
I saw Coldplay last night at Darien Lake. Great show...yes...overall great show

I danced , I sang, BUT I didn't scream, I didn't get goosebumps. I didn't expect a religious experience, but I was kinda hoping that they'd surprise me.

Maybe it's the fact that I was a touch mad at Chris Martin for competitive remarks about U2. Maybe because in Chris Martin's words "we were voted the 'Ugliest Band' in Europe, we're not the Backstreet Boys ",...

Blue Crack is a harsh place

Posted 08-31-2005 at 10:16 AM by drumkeeran
I've been around for awhile (3/01). I don't post that often and don't write in my journal that often. I no longer hang in PLEBA (I'm getting too old for stalking). I like to lurk around a bit taking part in bits and pieces, gathering information for bands I might want to listen to, chatting with friends, offering support and birthday wishes .

I've noticed lately that some interferencers become quite hostile quickly when someone offers opinions that don't match their own....

Yea!! for TREK bikes

Posted 08-17-2005 at 08:26 AM by drumkeeran
Took our daughter to the bike store yesterday to pick out her bike. She'd definitely outgrown her little magenta Target store 16".

BUT, I didn't expect her to need a 24" with gears and $$$ price tag. Now she has a beautiful purple and silver 220 Mountain Trek. She is very happy and grateful.

Her older brother is very jealous. But, he'll have to wait a bit, because the bike rep said he's ready for an adult bike (even bigger $$$...

Staying put

Posted 08-15-2005 at 08:36 AM by drumkeeran
A big sigh of relief...

My husband just resigned from his job this morning to take a position with a local company. That means we don't have to move. Just in time too, because his present boss was going to offer him a job today that would've moved us to Chicago... Love to visit the windy city, but I love Upstate more...family, great schools, great friends...

Schooltime craziness

Posted 08-03-2005 at 09:25 AM by drumkeeran
My kids are !!

They drove up and down the road on their bikes yesterday waiting for the mailman to come and deliver their teacher letters and supply lists. After many, many phone calls "Who'd you get!!", we are headed to the store for school supplies.

I'm super proud of my ten year old - he has most of his supplies from 4th grade (amazing for the child who usually loses most of them!).

It is dastardly hot and the A/C'd store...

Bono, bono and ali

Posted 07-22-2005 at 05:06 PM by drumkeeran
My trip to Boston also included a little bit of Bono and Ali. What would time to myself be without some indulging of two of my favorite people.

As I wandered about by myself on Tuesday, after a restless Monday night... I had rich food for dinner at a rather awful North End restaurant - lamb chops and spinach. Then to make up for the fact that I didn't really enjoy that, I had two pistachio cannolis. I'm regretting that as well...can we say piggy!!!! Anyways, I digress. Couldn't...

Ahh...Boston you're my home...

Posted 07-11-2005 at 01:20 PM by drumkeeran
Well second home anyway...

In all the years I lived in New England ('87-99), I always wanted to spend a complete day wandering the halls of the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) in silence, alone (at least with no one I knew).

Today, I got my desire.

From 11 am to 4:45 pm, I walked nearly every inch. I could decide what to look at, what order, how long to gaze... you can't imagine the freedom I felt.

So much different from viewing Monet's exhibit...

Bathing suits

Posted 06-27-2005 at 10:18 AM by drumkeeran
I finally gave in, rewarded myself for keeping the majority of my weight loss off for nine months and bought a suit without any of the usual "control" features.

I wore it yesterday to a family graduation party and didn't feel self conscious at all.

It's a two piece tankini with a bright paisley print. But, I'm still too shy to post a pic here.

My baby's growing up

Posted 06-20-2005 at 08:22 AM by drumkeeran
Little teary-eyed

My youngest just got on the kindergarten bus for the last time. He didn't wave as the bus drove away, but I waited until it turned around in the cul de sac and he was waving like crazy when the bus passed the driveway again.

Fun in Toronto (Pt1)

Posted 05-26-2005 at 10:51 AM by drumkeeran
We're back!!

A quick jaunt up to TO to watch the other "boys" - the WORLD CHAMPION RED SOX!!! lose to the Boo Jays!!!

What a great game, a few home runs, one badly missed call, tied at 6-6, and a walk off three-run homer to end it all.

( because of mixup with alcohol and antibiotics I spent a good deal of it in the ladies' room)

My kids and husband had a blast . We arrived at about 2:30, checked into...

Figured out why...

Posted 05-23-2005 at 08:58 AM by drumkeeran
Why I got up at 4 am.

I've got a nasty case of bronchitis !

The painter has left and I got a chance to pick up the house this weekend. In the middle of hacking up a couple of lungs...I know too much information.

I will go to the doctor this afternoon.

Tomorrow the whole family is going to Toronto to see the glorious Red Sox play the Blue Jays. I'm very excited as I haven't been to the big city in over two years. I also want to...

who wakes up at 4 am??

Posted 05-21-2005 at 02:46 AM by drumkeeran
I woke up at 4 am today!

Of course, I tried to get back to sleep, but my body says, "No, I'm up!!!!"

Now, it's 6:40 and I'm getting that rush of tiredness, but now I really should be up in about 20 minutes.

I guess getting caught up on web surfing for rug runners, flowers, Willie Williams' U2 tour diaries (up to the week in Europe) has tired me out.

At least the sunrise was beautiful!!!

an angel on her shoulder

Posted 05-05-2005 at 03:37 AM by drumkeeran
My mother had surgery yesterday to remove both her ovaries (a laproscopic oopharectomy). The ob viewed the frozen section and declared her ovaries cancer free with a dermoid tumor (one with a tooth, bone and some hair) that she probably had for quite some time.

However, he asked us whether my mom had an angel on her shoulder? Of course she does we answered. "Aha, that would explain how we found a small (1/2 cm) spot of bladder cancer." They removed the spot and...

Sometimes it's good to hear...

Posted 04-29-2005 at 07:08 AM by drumkeeran
I heard Sometimes on the radio twice yesterday toolin' around in the car doing errands. Springtime... flowers bloomin'... a new U2 single on the radio ...

The cobwebs have started to clear from my fall last week. Every day I get a little clearer, but I find it odd that I have to repeat lists in my head of what to do next... remind myself to eat!! remind myself to finish the little things...

Thanks for all the well wishes !

My Head Aches...(warning, long story)

Posted 04-26-2005 at 06:16 PM by drumkeeran
A week has gone by... I was hoping I'd regain some memory of last Tuesday's events...

I've pieced together most of the story through personal accounts from my kids and my husband... but I still don't remember most of the day and night... a nice case of amnesia (something you get used to, but not something I'd wish on anyone)

Anyways...

Last Tuesday, school break week. The kids are home, the painter is going to start on their room soon. I packed away...
