A live Rolling Stones album once started something like that, but it fits. The tour is starting tomorrow (my EST time); it's already June 30th in Europe and parts east.

I'm finally excited about this tour. The logistics of it are somewhat difficult for me this time around...I'll probably stay at a hotel near Giants Stadium or in Manhattan that night, as the idea of traveling from Jersey to Long Island after the show really doesn't appeal to me at all. It will be an expensive night....

A little over seven years ago, the day after the Grammies, I came to the realization that U2 was my favorite all-time band. I discovered Interference and other web sites, read everything I could get my hands on about Our Guys, embarked on a spending spree on eBay for magazines and books and of course, listened obsessively to their music. All this fan passion led me to attend 6 shows in 2004-5, including that Brooklyn Bridge show...and ultimately, waiting outside to try to meet them at MSG. I shook...

Two weeks ago, I was moving much of my stuff into my new apartment. Right now, I'm taking a break from schlepping and throwing out some things at the old apartment. I'm at the new place, and I am happy to report that it already feels like home. My landlord seems like a pretty good guy...lent me the laptop I'm using to write this cause my iMac doesn't seem to be picking up his Internet network (it probably needs the latest upgrade), and put in a new shower head so I wouldn't have to tug with all...

I'm moving from the apartment where I lived for 8-1/2 years. Tomorrow afternoon, two custodians where I work are coming to pick up the big stuff...bed, dressers, love seat, etc. The small stuff will follow. I've already started on that...my No Line On The Horizon box set is safe in my new closet, 3.03 miles from where I am typing this right now. So are some posters and CDs. My unwieldy U2 magazines/books collection will probably go with me in my car sometime tomorrow afternoon.

With all the commotion about the US Presidential race, and my continuing obsession with Second Life, I haven't been a very good U2 fan. A lot has gotten by me as I've spent hours reading posts at Daily Kos or building a virtual home on SL. But the last few days, it feels like I've come home to my favorite band.

Last week, I visited Best Buy to get the new Coldplay EP. I wandered over to the U2 selection of CDs, and found the October and Joshua Tree remastered sets with all their bells...

Every year I attend a local library conference on Long Island, and I enter several raffles held by various library associations. Last year I won a lovely wicker basket with a "Pop Culture" theme; it had things like "Seinfeld" and "Simpsons" box sets. I hadn't known I won until I walked into the library the next day and found the basket on a desk in my department, and was told "Diane, it's yours."

I was surfing around the Internets this evening, when I got the urge to listen to "Window in the Skies." While I was listening, I started daydreaming about coming face-to-face with Bono, finally, and just saying, "Thank you. For everything." I imagined myself crying.

And I started crying for real.

So I came here, and went to PLEBA, and found a thread of photos from Hanover Quay taken this year. And I came to a gorgeous picture of...

It's been a mild winter on Long Island, but we did have some white stuff on Friday. The library was closed, but my part-time Rite Aid job was open. Okay. So I went in, and when I got home about 10:30 pm I slipped on ice in my driveway and fell.

I went to the library the next day, but felt worse and worse as the day went on. My co-workers urged me to get checked out, so I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain. I got a note excusing me from work Sunday. Monday I felt...

Yesterday was my birthday, and no one started a thread for me. I always looked forward to seeing these in the past, and am a little disappointed that I didn't have one this year.

Then again, you must be a friend to have a friend, and I've been sort of AWOL from here for a while...most of my online time is on Second Life these days.

When the album is out and the tour is going on, I'm sure I will be around more often!!!

I haven't spent much time on Interference for a year or so now. Part of it is that U2 hasn't done all that much; I'm sure I'll be visiting more often when the new album is out and the tour is in full swing. Another reason is that I've gotten very involved with the virtual world Second Life, where I truly DO have a "second life."

I also have spent many hours on the left-wing blogs Daily Kos and Eschalon. I've been a political animal, very interested in liberal politics,...

I'll miss the little guy forever and I am glad that I have so many wonderful memories to get me through the rest of my life without him. When I have the money, I want to make a photo book about his life: "Pugsley and Us: Life and Love with the World's Best Dog". There are Internet companies...

My sister's pug, Pugsley, my favorite creature in the world, died today of pancreatitis. He was 9 years old.

I am devastated.

They are together now, my Puggleman and my brother Jimmy. Jimmy died of pancreatitis 11 years old. Pugsley and Jimmy, together...

I tend to get fixated at certain songs at certain times, and play them over and over and over and... Anyway, the latest song I've been playing is "Sea and Sand" off Quadrophenia, the true masterpiece by The Who. Part of it has a very wistful tone, especially when Roger sings:
