But selfishly I am sad, disappointed, and scared for my sister. I was the last one of our immediate family to be told, she was scared to tell me knowing that Karl would likely pitch a fit (which he did, but not to her).

The father is her manager (she is a waitress at a pizza place), she's known him for about 2 years but they've only been dating since January. She has been working a second job and going to school part-time. She has general health insurance but no maternity coverage....

Karl turned 32 on Sunday, we were up north visiting my sister then so we had a belated celebration yesterday. I am horrible at giving gifts, I never have good ideas for what to give people. I was passing one of those mall perfume stores a few weeks ago, looked around, and the Bvlgari Black caught my eye.

Sources say this is Bono's cologne of choice so I thought, what the heck, Karl hasn't had a new cologne since before we got married, let's try something a little different. NOT...

I had a full physical yesterday, my doctor was asking me about lifestyle things, smoking/drinking/exercise etc. I am a very occasional drinker and *very* rarely drink to the point of being drunk. He literally wrote out on a prescription paper that I should drink at least 1 glass of wine or 1 bottle/can of beer or 1 shot of hard liquor AT LEAST once per week, and up to 1 per day. Something about helping to decrease risk of stroke......well if it's doctor's orders......

I found out today that one of the girls I used to work with (she quit about 4 months ago) commited suicide on Sunday, hung herself. She was only 22, with a 4 year old son.

Why do people think suicide will make things better? I understand that people who reach that point are not thinking clearly - and I know life was hard for her, being a young unmarried mom whose child has big health issues. But how does this make things better for anybody?

I went to the dentist today to get a filling fixed. My sister is the new receptionist there, and apparantly she dished about my Chicago experience, camping out, etc. My dentist comes in and says, "So your sister tells me you've become a u2 groupie, I never would have pegged you for one of those crazies!"

What is a non-offensive way to describe what we are? When I hear groupies, I think of girls lined up outside of dressing rooms waiting to get it on with...

My sister-in-law miscarried yesterday, we are all very sad

It's hard to know what to say in situations like this - and it sucks that she currently lives 1.5 hours away, it is not easy to get together But Karl and I are gonna drive out tonight and make her dinner, watch a movie - I wish I could think of some little gift to bring that might cheer her up a bit - I suck at gift-giving

She is wishing she hadn't told so many people she was pregnant,...

But the kittens in my office seem to think so - they keep climbing up my pant legs with their little velcro claws

They are darn cute though, only about 7 weeks old - a black boy and a brown-and-white tabby female

Karl's 26-year-old sister has announced her pregnancy, it will be the first grandchild for that side of the family (I have 2 nephews thanks to my sister). I'm happy for her - she really wanted this, and I think they have been trying since their honeymoon in April (yes only 3 months ago).
