I was talking with my mom yesterday, and she mentioned that my dad had found a fabulous deal on plane tickets to Hawaii, so they've already booked our trip for Christmas!

This is the soonest they've ever been organized, so it gives me lots of extra time to be saving up for anything fun I'd like to do while I'm there. Last weekend a friend and I went to the Virgin Festival, which was a two day concert here in Vancouver. It was so much fun! On Sunday it rained and poured, but we didn't care. It was wet and muddy and gross, but we managed okay. I didn't bring my camera because it was just too disgusting to bother with anything extra. The bands that we saw that day were Stars of Track & Field, The Bled, Mute Math, Rise Against, Billy Talent, and My Chemical Romance.

My best friend and I got to go to the Canucks game on Sunday night. That was so much fun! I'd never been to a playoffs game before, so I was very excited. I've been a Canucks fan since 1993, so it was high time for me to actually see a playoffs game in action.

We got a last minute email saying that some tickets had become available 2 hours before the game started, so we went for it. I just so happend to have had my email inbox opened at the time, so I got the email immediately....

Every year I am a part of the BC Cancer Society's Relay for Life, which is a 12 hour relay. It's a great way to raise some money for a very worthwhile cause. And of course it's always a fun time with my crazy friends. This year the relay I'm participating in is on June 22-23rd.

So yesterday was amazing. I haven't had a birthday that wonderful in a really long time. It was such a nice treat.

Woke up again to my mom calling me at the time I was born to do her little "at this time so many years ago, I was in so much pain... " It's pretty funny.

The day was pretty uneventful for the first couple of hours. I thought that most people would have forgotten my birthday (which I was kind of hoping for) but at about noon...

On Saturday night I saw Elevation at the Commodore. It was a fantastic show! They played all of The Joshua Tree, plus a set of other songs. It was great to hear Ultraviolet, which is one of my favourite off of Achtung Baby.

I met fah and a friend of hers for a nice dinner before the show, and we toasted to all of you who weren't able to make it.

Tonight I had a fire in my house.

I was making some toast in my toaster oven, and I left the kitchen to go look at the computer or the TV. All of a sudden the smoke alarm starts ringing, so I run back to my kitchen to see the toaster and my stove up in flames.

- I hurt my neck somehow, not sure how. I've been in almost constant pain since Thursday night, although it's not as bad as it was then. I've booked a Dr.'s appointment, because there's obviously something wrong, and the pain has gone on for way too long.

A friend just emailed me this article, and I can't stop laughing. There is some significance to this article. When we were in university, a few friends and I were big into pole dancing, dancing on tables and chairs - whatever. My two roomies and I were always talking about setting our house up with poles that would rise out of the floor every time you'd turn the music on. This morning I went to renew my passport. I don't particularly need it any time soon, but with the new regulations and crap it takes so incredibly long. It's better to do it now and have it taken care of.

I went to Seattle this weekend to spend time with my old roomie from university. We hadn't seen each other in about four months, so it was time for another visit.

I drove down on Friday afternoon, and that was pretty uneventful. I had made a new mix CD full of great fast paced songs that kept me going.

The last couple of weeks have been kinda hard. I've been pretty depressed, and it's driving me nuts. My usual cures for the winter blues have not been working, and I'm debating if there's anything else I can try to alleviate some of the depression I've been feeling. The light box hasn't done much.

My personal life has been mostly okay, except for one thing. A person I care very deeply about is having a baby. I'm happy...

So in my last entry I'm kinda laughing about how crazy the weather outside was. Yeeeah. It got even worse.

I ended up leaving work early, and it took me over an hour to get home. Normally it's a 15 minute drive.

Life has been a bit insane lately, but it's going good.

Diet and exercise - I cheated once, but I've got a lot of people checking up on me, and making sure that I'm eating well and working out consistently. I'm 9 days in, and so far I'm feeling good, and I've visibly lost some weight already, which is great.
