yessss! today i submitted chapter 1 of my research project. so 2 chapters done, 2 to go. lol and like 4 weeks til i defend so...yeah gotta keep it up. BUT, I'm still rather pleased that I'm where I'm at now. It really wasn't too bad. It is jut SUCH a huge paper that thinking about it makes me cry. So when I actually start writing 2 paragraphs then I get in the ZONE and I do it. I just need that kick in the ass then it is no problem!

I was at the grocery store today, and I heard one of those gross snorts from behind me in one of the aisles. I turned around to see a woman polishing off the remnants of a powdery white substance on her finger just a few feet away from me. couldn't she have done it in the bathroom or something? Aren't there cameras everywhere?

I guess I can't say with 100% confidence that she was definitely doing what I thought she was doing. But it pretty much looked like it, and sounded...

so, my appetite has increased ten fold. so much for me losing weight. i'm trying to just ignore it, but it overpowers me and drags me over to the fridge.

i ate like a bear when i was in NOLA. but thats because i needed the energy. i was workin my arse off, and eating soooo much food throughout the day. now im back, and my workload has obviously changed, but my appetite has not. i'm sooooo hungry all the time...

last weekend alone i found out:
1) my cousin, who has skin cancer, got locked up, and will be spending his final years in jail and not with his family (his fault, i know, but damn that is sad)
2) my boss' boss, the head of our dept, has very bad throat cancer. she can no longer work full days and has already cleared out her office. the docs are less than hopeful.



and i know some of my friends are going through similar things. cancer is a bitch....

Or so my students believed. I'll admit, I'm no pro at travel...or anything for that matter. But what I do when I'm trying to understand something is assess the situation and actually READ! I lead a group of 10 undergrads (mostly engineers) this week, and traveling with students is worse than herding sheep.

Yes, tomorrow (now looking at the time, tomorrow has become today!) begins the big adventure. I'm leading 10 undergraduate students (my little saints) to New Orleans for an alternative spring break. For 5 days we will be gutting houses, and doing all sorts of rebuilding manual labor fun. Friday night, our last night there, I'm setting them loose downtown (hopefully I won't regret this!) We have a hotel booked in the French Quarter, so after I check in and pass out, I'm letting them roam free....

just got back from the interview. it was rough! the 2 women were nice, but there was this one guy who was just an outright bitch. he clearly wasn't interested in me in the beginning. he had his arms crossed the whole time. he was also quite rude with me with some of the questions, and even kept checking his watch!

the first thing he said to me was: "your current position...how is that even advising? what do you do? it doesn't sound like advising at all!"...

We've had 50mph gusts going on all day! Some have been recorded at 60. My power has been on and off all damn day. My friend had a branch fall in front of her car. While walking Bailey and around campus, I've had crap fly into my mouth, my eyes...it is crazy out there!

So, I guess perhaps I am in the home stretch. My huge program, the Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans, begins next week. Everything will be downhill from there.

I'm at a loss for my next move. I've been applying to jobs like it is my job...over 30 now, and I've got nothin.
As backup, I'm currently applying to about 5 AmeriCorps positions. I can apparently get the Education award twice...so if I can't get a job in my field, I can volunteer again, making a peanut...

OMG my students just booked Ben Folds next month and The Roots in April! The best part about The Roots is that I DON'T HAVE TO WORK THE SHOW!!!! I can stand in the pit and throw my undies at Quest Love!!!! For once, I can actually enjoy a show!
