don't have them if you can't feed them

I got a big envelope in the mail today and it was a stack of court documents and a letter informing me that my ex husband wants me to go to court and approve a modification to his child support order. Even though my kids with him are 21 and 23, he owes me so much from the years he didn't pay, I still get a small amount from a wage garnishment. I don't need the money, but it helps with things like tuition and books and cell phone bills.

When I first opened the package, I had no problem with him doing the modification. I know he has a few kids with his current wife, he doesn't make much money and I really don't feel like being the evil ex wife bleeding him dry for the rest of his life.

But the more I read into the court papers, I found myself getting angrier by the page. Counting my 2 sons, this man has fathered SEVEN children. He has an 11 year old, a 9 year old, a 7 year old and a 6 year old with his wife and sometime in between, found time to get another woman pregnant and has a 10 year old with her.

I was pissed off that he continues to have kids despite not having the means to support them but the thing that bothered me the most though is that he gave his 9 year old son the exact same first and middle names as my oldest son. In the 20+ years since we divorced, he never once called his sons, sent a birthday card or a Christmas gift or made a single attempt to be in their lives. And the only way I could get a penny of child support was to take him to court and have it taken directly from his wages. He absolutely refused to support them. To see that he gave one of his sons the same name we gave MY son almost made me cry, knowing how hurt my son would be if he found out that the man who abandoned him apparently replaced him with another son of the same name.

So blah, blah, blah...he's crying that pays over $900 a month in child support to the various women he knocked up and he doesn't have any money left over to support the kids that live with him. Cry me a river.

I'm seriously thinking about sending a letter to my case worker, stating that I will gladly agree to the modification and donate my next 2 month's child support to buy him a vasectomy.
