Birthday Recap
Warning: If you read my MySpace blog, this is pretty much the same thing.
I turned 27 on March 9th. Of course, I always try to stretch out my birthday celebration as long as possible. My first birthday celebration was on February 28th. Mom, Dad, and I had driven back home to stay with my sister for the weekend. We went to visit Aunt Carole, and she made us dinner. She also baked me a birthday cake, which was really good!
Carole lighting the cake while my sister and I watch:

27 candles! She only had 25 of the regular birthday candles, so two were tea lights. We usually just do the number candles, so I thought that having the actual number of candles was really cool.
Also very cool...my birthday present from Carole was a quilt she made me! I love it!

The weekend went by so fast. We had lots of fun though. I got carded when I asked to buy lottery tickets at a gas station, which greatly amused me. We went out to eat a couple times, and Julie, Mom, and I did a little shopping. I love visiting Julie.

I think you can tell from that picture that I am the more annoying one.
Okay, so things were back to normal on Monday. There was still one week until my birthday. However, I was surprised to have flowers delivered to me on Thursday.

The card showed that the flowers were from my parents and my sister. The card also showed that the flowers weren't scheduled to be delivered until Monday, my birthday. Oops! The flower shop goofed. They were kind of disappointed, as they really wanted me to have something special arrive on my actual birthday...but, hey, I got flowers! That's the important thing, right?? I did get an apology call from the flower shop, as they wanted to make sure I knew it was their fault and not my family's.
Also arriving on Thursday was the birthday gift I had ordered for myself...the new U2 box set! Okay, I would have ordered it even if it wasn't my birthday...but whatever.

Friday night, Ernie took me out for my birthday dinner. He insisted I order a drink with dinner (I usually just get pop), so I had a pomegranate martini. I also had a banana cream pie for dessert that was even more awesome than the menu picture had led me to believe. After tasting it, Ernie was jealous that he had ordered carrot cake.
Saturday, my parents came down to take Ernie and I out to lunch. Afterwards, they came back to our house to hang out for a little while and play the Wii. They also brought a cake. Knowing that I had gotten a kick out of Carole having all of the candles on my cake, they did the same thing.
Dad lighting the candles:

Basking in the glow:

My parents also brought me some lottery tickets my sister had got me for my birthday, and I won $20! My parents' gift was paying my cell phone bill for two months. Very nice!
Sunday was my last day of being 26. I always call it my birthday eve. Ernie made me scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. I had found this chicken recipe online I wanted to try, so I made that for dinner. I put too much olive oil in the pan, and there was much splattering. The smoke alarm went off once too. I'm awesome in the kitchen.

And...finally...my actual birthday! It appeared the flower shop wanted to make amends for delivering my flowers early, as I received more flowers!

What's better than receiving an arrangement of flowers for your birthday? Receiving two!

Whenever there is a birthday at work, there is cake:

My card and my piece:

That was some serious cake!
I had a guitar lesson after work, and my teacher played and sang Happy Birthday to me. After that, I went home. I had asked Ernie to bring home take out from my favorite diner on his way home. I didn't want to go out to eat because I wanted to be home at 8:00 to watch The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother (priorities, people!). Unfortunately, Ernie said he had to run an errand for work and was going to be coming home from a different area, so the diner would be out of his way. The most convenient thing for him to bring home would be Burger King. I just wanted him home as soon as possible, so that was fine with me.
Ernie said he wasn't buying me anything for my birthday, and I had truly believed him. Therefore, I was extremely surprised when he came home with Burger King and presents!

Ernie said the presents were not from him though...they were from the dogs. They also each got me a card (Ernie did too).
My birthday loot!

It turns out Ernie wasn't running an errand for work. Ernie had no idea that Mario Kart can be hard to find. He went to five different stores before he found a copy and ended up wrapping everything in his truck in the Best Buy parking lot. He knew how much I wanted that game, and I am amazed he put so much effort into tracking a copy down for me. It was so sweet. I bought an extra wheel the next day, and we have been having fun racing each other.
And...that's about it! Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes, whether you posted a comment on MySpace, replied to the thread here, or sent your greetings old school:

That card was from one of the dogs.
