I have the worst luck with flying!

Posted 05-05-2008 at 02:14 PM by BonosBaby12
I swear I must be cursed when it comes to air travel. Since this past November whenever I fly there is ALWAYS a delay with my flight! Not talking by just a few minutes we are talking at least an hour or more. The last time on American it was a cancellation then the flight we grabbed the next day was delayed. Well this past weekend it was Continental that got me! Friday night just hours before I was to fly out I discover my flight is canceled! After much arguing they agreed to switch me to a different flight. Unfortunately this meant switching airports from Midway to O'Hare. Just my luck the flight they put me on required that I drive through rush hour traffic to to the airport. Surprisingly traffic wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. Discovered along the way though there was no reason to rush after all! When calling to check the status of the flight it had been delayed from 6:10 to 7 something. Believe it was close to 8pm by the time we boarded. From there the fun just really took off. Due to the storms earlier in the day the runways were backed up from other delayed flights. First time around we sat on the runway for 45 minutes. After that wait it's announced that we are going to circle the runway to a different area for takeoff. There we discover it's going to be ANOTHER 45 minute wait there too! To make matters worse the plane was so hot and completely full. Never once were we offered even a drink of water. So once that fun ended we took off and I arrived in NJ around 12:30am.

Now we fast forward to yesterday for my return flight. Everything was going great with the flight being on time. Even managed to get through security hell in a reasonable amount of time to make it to the gate. Then the news comes along after the time for boarding has passed. Our plane had to be redirected to Allentown,PA so therefore our flight was delayed. Once again once we boarded we discovered another jam packed runway. Sat there for a really long time just waiting to take off. This time around though we were offered water and a snack. Ended up reaching Chicago around 9pm instead of my original arrival of 7pm. Since I practically had no sleep over the weekend arriving late did NOT sit well with me!

Traveling at the end of the month to go back home to DE for a week. This time around we will drive the 11-12 hours instead of depending on an airline!

    Wow, just wow!

Maybe consider writing a letter or two to customer service dept. to express your dissatisfaction...

    Don't bother writing your letter....

If airlines could be God and take care of weather and air traffic problems in the New York and chicago area, they would.

As for "water" - they won't while in "taxi" mode around the airport. I ALWAYS buy a bottle of water before I get on a plane. ALWAYS.

    ;)
