Worried about Arnie :(

I'm extremely worried about my kitty, Arnie. He's losing weight, is very lethargic, I can tell he's dehydrated, and his skinny little fur is flying off his skinny little body. I'm sure he has either hyperthyroid or kidney problems. As of today, it looks like he hasn't eaten or drank anything all day. I even tried to tempt him with some tuna water, which normally he loves, but he wouldn't touch it.
I'm kinda freaking out.
I made an appt. for him for Monday morning, but I've changed my mind, I can't wait that long, so I'm taking him in tomorrow. He'll probably need subcue fluids...he's 16, which is 112 in people years, so he's def. an old little guy.
How serious is this? Should I take him into the local animal hospital now/tonight?? (conveniently, my vet's office closes at 5:30
) Having never had a pet before, I'm a bit lost on the 'end of life' stuff.
My little snugglebunny.

How long has he not had fluids? Cats do not do well if they don't drink, so if he hasn't had anything to drink all day I would at least call the animal hospital that's open now, tell them what is going on and see what they say. Fluid intake is even more critical than food intake, although that is obviously important too.
Subcue fluids in cats with kidney issues can make a huge -- and often very quick -- improvement in their condition. If he has kidney problems you may have to give subcue fluids at home, but it's not difficult once you do it a few times, and many cats do very well with it.
Positive thoughts for you and Arnie.
