Who are these people---the Mason's????

So.....I'm going to have to travel out East this week, more than likely. My grandmother is in the hospital and is not expected to make it past tonight. My parents dropped everything and left yesterday afternoon---driving from Chicago to New Jersey. I'll be leaving sometime this week. But this has all raised a question. My grandfather is part of the Mason's.
Now I've heard alot of things and I don't know what to expect. My family, except for my grandparents, are Christians. I've heard about some experiences other family members have had at funerals, etc. for members and their wives, and well......lets just say I'm getting kinda weirded out and don't know what to expect.
Anyone else have a clearer idea of what I may potentially be dealing with or expected to sit through?

First, to clear something up, Masons are not anti-Christian. In fact, Many Masons belong to some religious denomination.

lol, they're just people like you me. Only they wear a funny ring. And they rule the world. Nothing to worry about at all. OH - most have a 3rd eye in the back of their head - just like the eye on the back of a dollar bill. And they shoot lasers from their index finger if you piss them off - so don't go pissing them off.

there was a thing on history channel the other night about the masons.
i can't really remember what they said about them though.
