My brief review of Vertigo 2005 at MSG on 10-7-2005

The energy was there! The volume was there! The...predictability was there! First off, I love U2! I've seen them 8 times with this show being 9. From Zoo TV to Vertigo, I've fuckin' been there! My friend had seen them 13 times and number 14 left him shaking his head. Secondly, they started the show off well with City and Vertigo and Electric Co and stuff, but then Bono just started mangling the songs. Pride especially stands out as one song that really got fouled up. U2 also gave shorter versions of what used to be highlights of their shows. Streets and Bullet were good examples of this. We also knew what would be next which kind of sucks when you want to see them at least mix things up. Like Love and Peace going into Sunday Bloody Sunday. They also didn't play 40. I went to see them on May 18th and they were playing it almost the whole tour until the show I went to at The Meadowlands in New Jersey. With that kind of luck, I should go out and play the fuckin lottery or something. I guess I'll live.
But now here comes the obligatory, "don't get me wrong, I still love U2". I still got a chance to see the Boys, so I was happy. They played Crumbs and Miss Sarajevo, so my friend and I were content with that as well. But, we also wondered if we would ever see U2 again. Afterall, there weren't too many surprises and we always pay a king's ransom for a ticket. Plus, I don't know if you've heard, but U2 tickets are a real fuckin bitch to get.
