Went to see lovely Sarah at the Forum Theatre yesterday. A bit strange to go to a gig on Sunday night, which probably accounted for the rather quiet vibe at the start of the show. The opening act, a five-piece from New Zealand called The Brunettes, were enjoyable - good onstage chemistry between the two singers and nice whimsical indie-pop songs, though not something I'd rush out to buy.
Sarah was as adorable and strange as ever, her live singing never fails to amaze me and her idiosyncratic onstage moves are always fun to watch. The dress she wore was spectacular, with huge puffy sleeves that she later unfolded, very dramatically, to reveal multi-coloured wedges sewed in. Very theatrical

She performed most of her new album and a few oldies, plus a couple of covers accompanied by just a guy on a piano. One was Diane Keaton's song from Annie Hall, and another was a song from Xanadu, a movie Sarah said she hadn't in fact enjoyed at all
I wish I didn't end up standing next to a couple of drunk Brits who kept screaming into my ear between the songs, but overall a very good night out.
