Decisions

I'm no longer going to be doing my annual swim competition in July. I made the decision this weekend. I've known for a while that it wasn't going to work out, yet I hung on to the hope for a little while longer.

Since I'm without a roommate at the moment, I'm very broke, as I'm paying the full rent and all the bills on my own, which is quite difficult on my salary. I can afford things just fine if I have someone to share the costs with, but on my own, that's hundreds of dollars extra that I no longer have.

Anyway, that means that I haven't been able to afford things that aren't necessities. My membership at the pool is not a necessity, unfortunately, and I haven't been swimming in a few months. I've been running (since I can do that for free), but that's not enough to prepare me physically for swimming a mile in the open ocean.

Like my dad said when we were having dinner together last night, I can't do everything. I've done so much this year so far, and have got many great things coming up, and it's okay to step away from this one thing. I'm a little disappointed, but realistically it's just not feasible financially. If I get a roommate before July 1, I'll probably reconsider, but we'll see. For now, it's a no-go. Hopefully next year!
