Makin' plans

So we're planning the annual trip to Hawaii once again. Things will be a little different this year, but I'm very excited!
My parents are taking a sabbatical, and will be spending that time over in Kona. A friend of theirs has a home there that won't be in use, and they've offered them the use of that, which is awesome. My brother and I will fly over and join them for a week or so over Christmas.
So that means we won't be in Honolulu this year. I'm going to miss being in the city a lot, but I'm really excited to see a new place. The house is about a 5 minute drive away from the nearest beach, but I'm sure we'll still spend most of our days on one beach or another. I've done a little bit of research, and so far I'm planning to go on a tour of a coffee plant or two (mmm... Kona coffee!
), visit the lava fields and some waterfalls, check out a couple of the posh hotels, and maybe go skydiving. It's going to be fantastic!
I've been looking at various websites for flights for the past week and a half, and have found a few decent deals. Last weekend the price on one site was still a bit expensive, but it was significantly cheaper than any other place. However, earlier this week the price jumped up over $200. Today it's back down $100. It's hard to know if I should go ahead and book the flights now, or hold off in hopes that the price will go down even more. Hard to say.
Regardless, I'm really looking forward to the trip. I know I just got back from South Africa, but I'm excited for my next traveling adventure!

that's so awesome you're going to hawaii! i'm jealous! and i feel your pain about the airline ticket prices. i don't get how the prices can change from one day to the next. i've heard from a couple travel agents i used to know that prices are at their lowest ~14 days prior to the departure date, but i've no idea how true that is or if that applies to all flights. i hope whenever you do buy the tickets that the prices doesn't keep going down! (if only there were price matches for airline tickets like there are with televisions and stuff)Posted 09-27-2008 at 06:51 AM by KhanadaRhodes
