Thought about award shows

Posted 02-01-2010 at 11:58 PM by U2MaNaIcWeIdO
I've been reading the Grammy Nods thread today and some of the negtive comments got me thinking.

What would happen if there were no award shows?

Dunno....just an honest question. What do you think?

I haven't watched more than a few minutes of any awards shows in a couple decades, so for me there really wouldn't be any change. For the industry...well the major category winners and some nominees wouldn't get the sales bump they generally do right after the award show, but otherwise I don't think there would be a huge difference. People would still bitch about the attention bands/musicians/singers they didn't like were getting, so the world would keep right on spinning.

If there were no award shows....there'd be no interruption of regular programing on those days!

i only watch 2 awards shows, the grammys and the oscars. i've actually gotten into them over the last 10 or so years. i can't stand to watch any of the others. especially country, it seems like there's one on every month.

if we are getting rid of them to free up regular programming, can we eliminate the state of the union or at least cut out the applause so they can get in and out in 30 minutes?
