Local Time: 06:57 AM | Last Book i read was Burmese days by George Orwell. It was a really engaging read about British Imperialism in Burma with really well thought out charcters. It had no heroes and while depressing, made you think deeply about people's roles, their self-interest and lack of courage to go against the grain. Similar books... Maybe Wide Sargasso Sea - again about British colonialism but in Jamaica. That was much more pyschological... and focused on the extremely oppressive nature of British colonisers. |
