Extra track on Linear is: Winter!

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Oh no, I don't think I can take any more comparisons or mentions of Coldplay in this forum. Just hearing that bands name and the idea of hearing Chris Martin's poor vocal and their simplistic and soft rock ballads is like someone scratching across a blackboard, it grates and irritates.

I agree 100%!!! Stop comparing U2 to a crappy band everyone!!!! If you like them its your business, leave them out of our U2 enjoyment! :)

Me, too, and I actually own the first 2 albums, though I had severe problems with the simplicity of "In My Place" and "Clocks". I find it really hard to listen to the new album. Bastards did well at the Grammys, too. That's why U2 shouldn't get a big head about that stuff.

Werners Wereld: Het nieuwe album van U2: gaat dat zien!

He's quite impressed by the song. So it seems that it's huge... what's not so great is that he says it's a Coldplay-like song":yuck:

He also says that Cedars Of Lebanon sounds like "Somewhere Down The Crazy River" by Robbie Robertson.
You know what would have been cool? If U2 put the track on the album; I seriously doubt it's b-side material or nearly as lame as "Salome" or "Always" or the hundreds of post-Joshua Tree b-sides that really suck. However, I just hope they put these extra tracks on the singles, and don't leave them as some itunes exclusive. Then, most is forgiven.

God U2 fans are getting even more precious about this U2-and-Coldplay thing than Coldplay fans are.

Winter is supposedly featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Brothers."

Post JT b-sides: Holy Joe and Are you gonna wait forever are among my favourite songs... so to me Winter can be like that and I'm damn happy

I haven't heard of it; there was this great Danish film I bought in 2005 called "Brothers"... Anyway, that's at least $16 or $20 if it's unpopular. I'd like an extra track that won't cost me that much. That said, I'd rather do that than buy it off itunes. Thanks for the info.

Get over it.

Agreed.

Good to hear that Winter is still around. So the big huge deluxe version comes with that? Good thing I pre-ordered...

The cd will appear in different versions (vinyl, cd and boxset), of which some will contain the accompanying film ‘Linear’ by Anton Corbijn. Corbijn was present yesterday (at the Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, The Netherlands) to personally introduce his contribution. He said that on the album the stories of five persons are being told, which at a certain point come together. Corbijn took one of these persons, an African police agent who wants to go home, as a point of departure. In the film (described by Corbijn as ‘moving pictures’), the story of this agent is being told by means of the songs of the album. These, however, appear in a different order than they to do on the cd, and in the film one song is used that did not make the album. And some kind of song it is: the Coldplay-ish (or am I turning the world upside down now?) ‘Winter’. I have many cd’s in my collection that contain a dvd that I never actually put on, but this work by Corbijn really contributes to the music. It still is strange to applaud to the stereo boxes after a listening session has ended, but the applause after the screening of Anton Corbijn’s film was more than justified.

Did I miss something? Why all the hate on Coldplay? I don't think they are the 2nd coming of the Beatles, but are they THAT bad?
