Local Time: 07:14 AM | We're not all students... but I am. ![]() What shocks me is not the young fans, particularly given Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and POP. What amazes me is how many young ones (myself included) really like the old stuff -- Boy, October, and War. ------------------ - Achtung Bubba |

Local Time: 12:14 PM | hey Bubba I'm one example of a 'young one' (I'm 21) who really prefers the more recent stuff. I dont even own anything prior to the Unforgettable Fire! no doubt I will eventually buy the earlier stuff, and no doubt I will like it - but I can relate far better to the U2 of the late 80s and 90s (and now I guess the 00s - that looks so funny though!) I remain in awe of the breadth and depth of your U2 love and knowledge!!! Mermaid ![]() ------------------ she moves in mysterious ways... |

Local Time: 11:14 PM | I think the current preferred name for this decade is the Naughties... But yeah, it does look funny written as the 00's!I'm another 21 year old young 'un... I really preferred the older stuff until very recently, now I can't decide what I prefer. Didn't get into Zooropa/Pop until about a month ago. Not that I've been a fan for much more than a year total! |

Local Time: 10:14 PM | Why do you think that is Bubba? Im 2 years older than you and I suppose from The Rattle and Hum/Achtung Baby era, but my sentimental favourite album is BOY. AS much as I do love the new stuff, the older stuff really gets me giddy. For those of us in our early 20's, I guess that we can relate to the stuff Bono was writing about back then. It may have been 20 years ago that he wrote it, but its still the same sort of feelings and emotions coming through. Boy and October for me are very cathartic. |

Local Time: 12:14 PM | I'm a younger fan (just 17) and i love the older stuff (though admitedly not as much as the newer stuff). BOY in particular sounds great to me. It's so fresh and alive raw. |

Local Time: 07:14 AM | I guess there are some young-uns that aren't into the first few albums simply because they haven't worked their way back that far -- and, honestly, U2 had a very "raw" sound. (A four-year gap between new studio releases gave me plenty of time to explore that far back, and I guess a few teenagers and twenty-year-olds didn't get that far.) Ultimately, I play the newer stuff more than the older stuff, but there are some days where I can just wrap myself up in Boy, October, and War. And, Mermaid, you'll probably like the old albums, too -- when you get to 'em. ![]() ------------------ - Achtung Bubba |

Local Time: 12:14 PM | I am a 19 year old student, soon to be 20, and a huge U2 fan. Actually I have all their albums and about 10 singles, 4 videos and several bootlegs. What is odd is that I never was much into listening to music, any kind a few years ago. The first U2 album I got is Pop, but my favorites by far are JT, AB and ATYCLB. |

Local Time: 12:14 PM | Hey Mazz, You aren't the only "old" one on here. I'll be turning 30 just about the time U2 kicks off the first leg of their US concert tour(great birthday gift, huh?!) I first got into U2 during JT and have come to appreciate all the albums, except passengers. Some albums take longer to appreciate, and some you just have to be in the right place in your life. Didn't mean to bore you all with my ramblings. And we scorch the earth Set fire to the sky Stoop so low to reach so high |

Local Time: 12:14 PM | I'm 18 years old, student of course, studying Philosophy, Society, Politics, History, Geography, Socialism, French, English, blablabla.... I'm much into the Rattle And Hum / Zoo TV era, wich was, in my opinion, the best U2 period, along with the War album/tour. I love all of their albums, except 'October'... and I really think the 'Boy' album sounds fresh and raw, excellent work ! cheers ! ------------------ Support Amnesty International against torture : www.stoptorture.org Write to the President of Sierra Leone and ask him of all those responsible for the rapes and other crimes brought to justice : President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, State House, Independence Avenue, Freetown, Sierra Leone Greenpeace : www.greenpeace.org Jubilee 2000 : www.jubilee2000.co.uk Amnesty International : www.amnesty.org "Military is an error, as well as conformism" "Let's vote for every politicians... they all say they want a great future" - Me.... |
