what is the 40th psalm about?

can anyone tell me what the 40th Psalm is about...the one thats read in "40"

12For evils have encompassed me without number; my iniquities have overtaken me, until I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.

13Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me.

14Let all those be put to shame and confusion who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who desire my hurt.

15Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”

16But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!”

17As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.

The book of Psalms from old testament of the bible are all simply a series of songs that were created during the rule of king David and are essentially about his and the Isrealites experiences at the time. The majority of Psalms are of the "why have you forsaken me, oh lord" variety but 40 is somewhat unique in that it is about being grateful for god's ultimate deliverance of the faithful in times of trouble.

"40" is such a great song. There are probably a lot of people that have no idea that it's straight out of the Bible.

I love 40. They should close every concert with this song, it's a perfect farewell.

I was a little bummed they didn't play it in Hawaii.

I was listening to the live torrent...and I was disappointed when they started AIWIY. I LOVE that song, but it wasn't a great show closer, much less tour closer for me.

I was hoping for "40"
