Other artists sales figures

Wasnt sure where to post this but I have a friend that indicates to me that Depeche Mode have sold over 70 million albums. I was wondering if any of you have any official data regarding this band. I see according to the RIAA that Depeche Mode has sold 10.5 million in the US so the 70 million figure would seem a rather bit high to me. Can anybody get me anything official on this subject matter?

Sorry, but Peeling Off Those Dollar Bills is only for topics related to U2. I moved this to Just The Bang & The Clatter, as that's our music forum for all that isn't U2.
