I would re-sign him for 2 years, at lesser dollars than the $10mil per he currently makes (assuming he's sign for less), and try to groom someone to take over during that period, having Varitek catch like 3 of 5 games instead of the current 4 of 5...hopefully with more rest his offense won't suffer as much, and he's still there to handle the staff.

I agree, but I'm curious as to what Scott Boras will try to do. Hopefully he and Varitek will realize what they have, and finishing his career in Boston is the best thing for him.

It's sad that while watching the 8th and 9th, I was thinking to myself "Man, if Lackey tosses a no-no, he's going to have a field day in the MLB thread".

Preferably as some sort of pitching coach, while the Sox snoop around for a catcher who can either hit the ball or throw runners out.

They've got some hitters, whaddya gonna do?

Nevertheless, we've got the most complete team in baseball. If we stay this healthy, we'll be tough to beat.

On another note, I'm sad to see Kotch go. Thing is, you gotta ask yourself if you're an Angels fan: who do you like better batting 3rd? Tex or Izturis?

But of course since as you claim, it was in a minor league park, we shouldn't take your performance too seriously.

Congrats on finally getting some protection for Vlad the Impaler...now you have a shot at not being swept by the Sox in the playoffs this year.
