Well they'd have gotten 2 sanswich draft picks that way.
This way they get Bay for 1.3 seasons, his contract is up after '09 and he's a Boras client so free agency is assured. And they give up:
A. Manny, arguably the top right handed hitter of our generation and beyond.
2. Brandon Moss, a basically ML ready middle of the road outfielder
Thirdly. Craig Gas Can Hansen, who they gave a $1milion bonus to, and wouldn't trade for Roy Oswalt 2 seasons ago. (but I'm glad to see gone)
Quatorce. Those 2 draft picks, which the Dodgers will now get
Last but not least. 7 million freakin dollars.

OK, I can see agreeing to pay his salary for the Marlins, but for the cash rich Dodgers?

The Sox took it so far up the rectum (dang near killed him) in this deal that the head is popping out their mouths.

This will be known as the "Manny is a fuckstick" trade. Man, how bad did the Sox want him out of Botown? Bad.

If there is one team that can deal with Boras, it's the Red Sox. If Bay has a great stint in Boston, they'll pay for him long term.

I agree paying Ramirez for the rest of the year instead of a team like LA is ludicrous, but they obviously felt they had no other options.

However, just getting Bay out of all this is what's fucking crazy. Even if it was just Ramirez, I would've expected another player, but to dish out Hansen and Moss at the same time and still just get Bay, well that's insane. At least include the excellent reliever that was rumored in the other deal - by bolstering the bullpen a bit, that would have made me feel better. They didn't even get that.

Bay may turn out to be a quality player - in fact, he already is. But he's obviously not Manny, and without getting anyone else in the deal, they acted a bit too desperately. We can only hope that the team chemistry returns and is good enough for a run, because the trade itself didn't improve things at all.

Good news: Adios, cheeseheads! Cubs SWEEP 4-game series on the road (if you really want to consider Wrigley North "the road"). Also, Manny + Los Angeles = GOLD.

Bad news: Possibly my favorite player going to the White Sox. I think I'm going to be sick.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mike Scioscia is the best manager in baseball.

It's hard to argue with that. The Halos always play good, sound, aggressive baseball. They've owned the Yanks since Sciosca took over.

What about Ron Gardenhire? I think the line-up Scioscia has makes his job a bit easier. I am not saying the Twins are not talented, but each year, Gardy is able to make a decent stab at the division. The Angels GM will go out and purchase talent (Tex, Hunter, etc.), while the Twins decide to offload talent (Hunter, Santana etc.).

Gardenhire's been great, but I'd take Sciosca over him. It's not like the Angels won their WS with guys like Tex or Hunter.

Here is the outfield for the Chicago White Sox. Griffey in center is a MAJOR liability. He lacks speed and the hustle he had when he was 22, and the Cell's center field is like a central illinois cornfield - A CRAPLOAD of open space. And Dye and Quentin aren't the fastest guys either.

Here's some classless shit:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- As Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire stormed off the field following his latest ejection, he punted his cap high over his head and back onto the turf.

The emotional exit fired up his Twins and sparked them to a four-run inning. But it also ignited the Metrodome crowd to nasty results.

Jason Kubel's three-run homer highlighted an unruly seventh inning in the Twins' 10-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. The game was stopped for several minutes when fans threw hats and baseballs onto the turf and had the White Sox running for the shelter of the dugout.

"I don't like to see the game get stopped because of something like that," Gardenhire said. "I can't control it. What am I going to do? But my reaction out there led to something and I don't like it. I felt bad."

Marty Foster tossed him in the seventh for arguing a called strike on Denard Span, and fans responded by tossing dozens of hats, and several baseballs, onto the field.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen quickly pulled his players off the field, and the public address announcer warned the announced crowd of 31,493 that the Twins were risking a forfeit if the behavior continued.

"I don't want anybody to get hurt," Guillen said. "I think the umpires did a good job taking control of the situation. I wasn't worried about hats, but I saw a couple balls flying on to the field and thought it was a dangerous situation."

The fans settled down after about five minutes, and the Twins had a four-run inning to erase a 4-3 deficit. Joe Mauer tied the game with an RBI single and Kubel followed with his homer off Octavio Dotel for a 7-4 lead.

"There were some things we don't want to see. People throwing things on the field, all that kind of stuff," Minnesota's Justin Morneau said. "It almost cost us the game. It was good that it stopped, but everyone was on their feet, yelling and cheering. It kind of sparked us."

The Twins fans obviously not happy about the Griffey trade either.

If you guys would have been around to see my reaction to the aforementioned 7th inning of the Twins/Sox game tonight you would have laughed.

Were you watching the game?

I was watching the Chicago Comcast broadcast, and the White SOx broadcasters had a pretty good point. Yes, there were a number of hats thrown on to the field, and A (read: one) foam/nerf-like baseball was thrown on to the field. Harmless compared to what has been thrown on to the field in U.S. Cellular, Yankee stadium or the Vet.

Now, I do not want to justify fans throwing stuff on to the field, but Gomez got nailed in the leg on a pitch, and instead of making a call by himself, the ump turned to Pierzynski to help him make a call. What is Pierzynski going to say? Well, he turned to bunt and it hit his bat. Bad call on behalf of the ump.

The White Sox broadcasters even said "these are good crowds at the dome. I have seen bolts, bottles, etc. thrown out on to the field. Here, they throw nerf balls."

And then the White Sox had a meltdown! LOVE IT.
