I watched most of it. Is Spike Lee the single most racist individual on this planet? I mean he tries to hide behind him being a minority and all, but damn the dude just makes it so obvious he hates white folks (but happily takes their cash at the box office).

well... the video of pacer fans holding signs with spike in a noose and holding pennants over their heads to make themselves look like klan members might have had something to do with it...

i don't think racist is the word with spike. the guy he shares his season tickets with is a white guy, after all.

I'm bummed that I missed this last night. Hopefully it'll re-air or hit DVD soon. I wouldn't go as far as say to that Lee's a racist, definitely pretty abrasive and unfiltered when it comes to his thoughts on race relations though.

They will re-air it a bunch of times but if you plan to Tivo/DVR it plan accordingly because it will probably run after some live sport (ie an NIT game) so your DVR might end up cutting the end off (I hate that).

And yes, it's on DVD and on iTunes.

Yeah, that must be why his biopic about Malcolm X criticizes the leader for his intolerance, and has him going to Mecca later in life and finally embracing racial equality.

Or why a few years after this whole Reggie Miller fracas he made a film (Summer of Sam) with an all-white cast, his first one written by someone other than himself.

And that film did SO well at the box office (under $20 million) that he tried to cash in again a few years later (another white cast and white writer on 25th Hour) and turned out what many people feel is one of his best films.

Lee certainly has overreacted to certain racial incidents, is often full of shit and doesn't know when to hold his tongue, but the man is not a racist.
