Local Time: 11:33 PM | Today is one of the saddest days in the history of New York sports. ![]() http://www.newsday.com/sports/ny-mad...,0,1108533file such a sad sad day. you knew mike and the mad dog, the greatest sports radio show EVER, bar none, no questions asked... would end eventually... but you sorta always hoped that Francesa would be the one to leave, not Russo. i grew up listening to these two, especially mad dog... every die hard sports fan in new york has done a russo impersonation. i'm quite fond of my own. so sad... this article sums it up perfectly. ![]() Quote:

Local Time: 10:33 PM | ![]() I know that I'm in the minority. I just consume sports in so many ways that sports radio grated on me.....if I was near a radio, that meant I'd listen to music....and when I did listen to those two, Francesa's demeanor turned me off....such a know-it-all sort of attitude towards his listeners....and Russo sounded like someone with ADD and no ability to modulate his voice. But, of course, I recognize their appeal and admire their longevity. |

Local Time: 11:33 PM | that's why i posted that article... you knew that russo really didn't know what the hell he was talking about, but he was funny, entertaining, and genuine. i'll certainly miss him more than i'd miss francesca, even though i respect francesca a lot. |

Local Time: 11:33 PM | I've always enjoyed Dog...he was absolutely outstanding the day after the '04 ALCS. Pity he's going to Sirius; I have XM for baseball. |

Local Time: 11:33 PM | I like how the picture has changed in Headache's post based on what day it is. So now, "Today is one of the saddest days in the history of New York sports" is referring to Johan Santana.

Local Time: 11:33 PM | My favorite thing about Russo was Anthony's impersonation of him on O&A. That was gold. |
