New Server... We're moving up in the world.

Hi All.

Today you may have noticed some down time with Interference.com, nearly 7 hours of it, and for that I apologize...

However, the reason we were down is because we have now migrated to a MUCH faster server which will hopefully be much more reliable during the insane/busy times.

Elvis,

As a computer geek, I'm just a bit curious, if you do not mind sharing, what are the specs of the new server, and how much CPU and bandwidth do we use on average?

I actually do mind giving exact specifics.... however...

This server is running dual Xeons, gigs of ram, and we use close to 1000gig (a terabyte) of transfer... which is somewhere around 2 full T1s on average... at all times.

Wow, that is impressive Xeons are good chips, glad to hear we're not running on AMD, I recall a site or two having a horror story after switching to AMD chips. Reading about that bandwidth, just makes me appreciate the work and money you put into this even more...

While this place maybe the blue crack for most everyone here....

it's a big headache for me.

We're actually having some strange after-effects of the move, but its sorta 'under control' at the moment.
