Thank you for the Canadian figures RollingBob - but could you clarify the part I underlined? 41/9 doesn't make sense (position 41 or position 49?).

Thanks!

#41 was the original published chart position but in the following weeks chart they actually listed it having been #49 in the last week column. Probably just a technical hitch though (like Denmark last week too).

Thanks Tallarico! I'm so happy to see that others have access to SoundScan info. (I used to have this, buy my source dried up long ago).

Interesting to see that a decrease of just 360 copies in sales dropped the album a whopping 21 positions on the chart. In the past, such a miniscule drop probably would have knocked it down just a notch. In fact, the album may have even rose on the charts.

However, I think these days, low album sales mean there are numerous albums selling in the 4-10K area each week. As a result, small increases or decreases in sales can have a big shift on the charts. In the past, with the exception of the holiday season, one could estimate sales based on chart positions. Now, that is no longer true.

This is one reason why I always felt having actual sales numbers is far better than just chart positions. Reaching the #1 or the Top 10 is great, but total sales are far better. ATYCLB never hit #1 in the U.S. and spent a scant 3 weeks in the Top 10 (the third week came almost 2 years after its debut). Yet it sold 4.2M copies in the U.S. This was a great example of an album bouncing up and down the charts (a bit like NLOTH) that just kept on selling.

Well, 3,934 copies sold is a new low. Will see if the Rose Bowl youtube performance had any impact next week. It will also be interesting to see if we can get catalog chart results to see if the Unforgettable Fire made the chart.
