Ok, what I want to know is how Madonna was able to get a higher attendance than U2 in Gothenburg when her stage set up is NOT 360 and U2 set up is 360?

By the way, Madonna has only played one show in Sweden, back in 1990, prior to these two shows.

Again, I was looking specifically at GROSS and ATTENDANCE. When it comes to GROSS(money made), U2 outgrosses Madonna on average by 71% so far on the tour. With attendance, the difference is U2 up by 84%.

sigh...ok, fine i guess you're the expert. ,

and to answer your question...i guess Madonna fully sold all the allotted tickets for both of her shows, whereas U2 did not. U2 probably had a higher attendance for Gothenburg 1, compared to Madonna's Gothenburg 1, probably.

Two more interesting results released this week, the first is AC/DC highest attendance and gross ever for single show in the United States in their career. The second is Coldplay first North American stadium show.

12 AC/DC, The Answer, Anvil Giants Stadium

13 Coldplay, Elbow, Kitty Daisy & Lewis Rogers Centre

Its also surprising to see AC/DC struggle to get to 12,000 in attendance in a city like Chicago.

29 AC/DC, The Answer United Center
Chicago, Ill.
Aug. 14, 2009
$1,163,053

$89.50

For the GIANT STADIUM show, AC/DC reduced their ticket prices to as low as $20 dollars.

Both Madonna's shows and U2 shows completely soldout within 2 hours of going on sale. In fact U2's Swedish shows are one of the top 5 fastest sellouts of the tour at this point.

It appears from the shape of the stadium that there are not many seats on either end of the field. The stands slope down at the ends, so while going 360 does add seats to the capacity, the addition is not nearly as much as in other venues. Still, even counting for that, it is strange to see Madonna come out ahead in attendance when she was not able to use seats behind the stage like U2.

Its odd that ACDC struggled to sellout a 14k arena in a major city. I know there are some "people" who feel they have saturated the market already and that is why they didnt sell out but if U2 come back to Chicago next year.....they will sell out another stadium show.

hmm...yes i guess that is strange......well, i guess since Madonna hasn't visited in nearly 20 years, demand was so high that they fit people into every little nook and cranny possible in that stadium.

hmm...well that is strange.....i guess since Madonna hasn't visited Sweden in nearly 20 years, the promoters managed to fill every nook and cranny of that stadium with a ticketbuyer.

Plus, AC/DC only played two arena shows last year on this tour in Chicago, both of them without selling seats behind the stage, so at most 15,000 per show.

I think this definitely shows that AC/DC after all this time is still not fit for stadiums in the United States. The Boston show which was not reported also struggled to sell tickets.

A certain person also stated that AC/DC would be playing Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. Obviously after the sales of their Boston and New York City stadium shows, thats definitely out of the question. In fact, I just checked and AC/DC is booked for the American Airlines Arena in Dallas in November.

Yes, it was reported by Jerry Jones himself that they were in negotiations to book AC/DC, but yeah i guess after somewhat lackluster ticket sales, they decided against it.

No, they've been doing arenas and large outdoor pavilions.

They just played a Stadium show in Toronto Canada. Its their first stadium show in North America. But Canada tends to have different taste when it comes to certain artist than the United States. AC/DC is booked almost exclusively in stadiums in Canada, while they can't manage to even sellout two stadium shows in the Boston and New York City, the largest markets in the United States.

AC/DC ticket sales in Canada

AC/DC sold 80,000 tickets for their outdoor show in Moncton, New Brunswick and 55,000 for their show at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. They are extremely popular in Canada. Course, so are U2. That's why both shows at Rogers Centre in Sept are sold out - 48,000 apiece.
