Ok, now I can post links. Who makes up these rules?

http://www.amnesta.net/edge_delay/

Very good site for Edge's delay. Use analog delay, like Deluxe Memory Man, for pre-Unforgettable Fire delays, and digital delay for anything else. Also, a good compressor helps.

'sustain' is not an effect. compression is.

The spirit of the Edge's guitar playing implores you to make up you own f'n sound.

But if you can't, I recommended the 'Stereo' effect.

PS.

Compression is that bright clicky sound used on alot of pop singles and I suppose some Jazz stuff as well. Edge uses compression on "In a Little While" and alot of slide pieces.

Edge also uses the MXR Dyna Comp vintage model compression pedal...

Actually it's making the loud sounds quieter, and the quiet sounds louder, bringing everything closer to the same sound level.
