I thought Bono’s voice was a little strained, especially during the second half of the show. He still nailed the high note in Sometimes and the opera portion of Miss Sarajevo, but his voice did sound raw and scratchy at times. I was hoping for Bad during the encore, but I figured his voice wasn’t up to it.

I'm not through reading all of the Cleveland posts but this is the first (besides mine) that mentions Bono's voice not being at it's best Saturday. The show was still fantastic and I was also impressed with him hitting those high notes. I was also hoping for 'Bad', dawnboo! I saw them in '84 at the same show you did...they blew me away that night and sealed my fate as a lifelong U2 fan.
I was in an upper section Saturday night as well and I agree...you feel more like a spectator than a part of the show. I'll have to remember that next time I go to see them. But it was a good vantage point to take in the whole light show.

I can't even remember what song it was...I think it was SBS...the 'no more' part. She didn't put the gum back in her mouth! I would have!

I helped that little girl get up...asked her before the show if she wanted to...and her sister, but only 1 of them went...her dad had no idea what part to hoist her up so I told him 'when'.....the funny part for me was when she got back down, she gave the gum to her dad....he folded it into some paper and kept it!

mobailey/maureen -

How cool to "meet" someone who was also at that 1984 concert! It was a life-altering experience for me, too. If you are interested, I posted a fan review and a media review from the Cleveland Plain Dealer for that show at the u2tours.com website.

Maureen,

I don't live in the Cleveland area anymore. I'm back home in Pennsylvania now. But, the PD review is posted on the atu2.com website.

Oh! To revise my review, it looks like I really WAS "in the moment" and said that Miroslava was on stage during "One" when it looks like it was "With or Without You" ... which makes better sense
Sorry folks! I promise to take my notebook next time

I caught that! But you are forgiven!
Do you know...did Miroslava post somewhere here about her experience that night (about being onstage)? I haven't seen anything...I thought she would be gushing!! I sure would be! How many times has she danced with Bono anyway? Lucky girl!

Oh, I was on total fumes as I wrote that last night...it was all I could do to spell at that point!
Yes, she is a lucky girl--but she deserves it for braving that cold! I was only out there from 10:30 on...not sure WHEN she got there!
I was gushing for her--I was so excited to see someone I "know" get pulled up...and you can't be jealous at a U2 concert (it's just not "done" ya know? Plus, Bono would scold you!)

Aw, thanks. And lovely review by the way! Just now had a chance to read it all...

And us dorks started the line at midnight. Seems like people had been circling around 'cause the line got up to 20 or so fairly quickly, someone just needed to get it started...

Oh, thank you so much for saying that! It's an "odd" review, but I just needed to say all that stuff that was rolling around in my head before, during, and after the show! I just wish I hadn't made that booboo! Oh well...

Aren't people funny? We're so darn extroverted when hiding behind our computers, but put us in a real-life situation, and we're a bunch of wallflowers! I'm so glad I got to say hi to you, if only for a second. Maybe next time (I've been telling myself that I won't ever do that again...but if it's NOT winter, hmmm...) we can talk some more.

If I were you Miroslava I dont think I would tell anyone the details of that experience, I would want to keep it all for myself.
(Except for me of course... I won't tell a soul.) I knew you were catching his eye right from the start when he said, We have some old friends here tonight...

Bono-"It was 25 years ago to the day that John Lennon was shot and killed"

Cleveland Audience erupts into huge applause.

Good place for the golf clap. But Cleveland seemed quite happy to loudly cheer the man's death.
