now THAT is impressive!

So the Japan shows must have been under 20,000 in attendance all 3 nights? I didn't realize they were that small.

Per your values I get an average tour ticket price of $85.80.

For that I think the band should be ashamed of themselves.

I understand charging what the market would bear, but that value for a concert ticket is very high.

The band always tries to charge what the market value is. Given that nearly every show soldout within minutes or hours of going on sale, it appears the band charged less than their market value. In addition, the band gave up about $400,000 dollars per show in the USA, by keeping the 2,000 floor tickets in each arena at only $49.50. It made getting those tickets for general fans more difficult as scalpers poured in to grab the tickets and make some of the $400,000 dollar amount that U2 decided not to make in an attempt to be nice to the fans.

Here is a little bit on that arena they played there as well as a picture:

Capacity for concerts is a bit less because many seats get blocked by the large stadium stage which they apparently were able to bring indoors.

Every seat at Telstra Stadium wasn't sold. I saw that with my own eyes - probably about 10,000 empty. I think attendance was likely around the 60,000-65,000 mark.

However, it appears that every seat that was actually put on sale was sold.

I guess the same applied to Hawaii.

Every ticket put on sale was sold, and the figure for Hawaii is now the GROSS record for that stadium. It may also be the attendance record for a single night show. Most people at the Hawaii show said it looked soldout. The Stones played two shows there back in 1995 and had a combined attendance of a little over 54,000 for the two shows. A combined total of 60,000 tickets was put on sale for those two Stones shows.

That is correct.

The single Stones show there was listed as soldout with 58,000 tickets sold. They had seats on the field though, and may not of used some seats in the stands. Sellouts refer to the tickets that were put on sale, not the maximum potential capacity of the venue.

So to take the analysis further, the single highest grossing shows of the tour were in Dublin, with London and Sydney not far behind. For arenas it appears the single highest grossing show was in Auburn Hills, judging by average take per show, although it could be NYC or DC, one of those shows could have had a higher take (although being sold out they are probably all pretty even).

Dublin was the highest single attendance of the tour, with 82,000 tickets sold for each concert.

Barcelona was the 4th single attendance (81,000), behind the 3 Dublin shows

I think thats right. In terms of combined gross for all shows played in one Market, New York City is at #2 with a little over 19 million dollars, just behind Dublin at 21 million dollars.

However, it appears that every seat that was actually put on sale was sold.

I guess the same applied to Hawaii.
People say this, but I pulled up seats available in every section apart from GA and the cheap seats after 5pm on the night of the concert. Whats strange about this was for the Monday concerts you couldn't actually pick up your tickets from the venue on the day, you had to do so from the City box office outlet - which I'm fairly sure close at 5pm. Which means there were plenty of tickets on sale - which no one could actually use on the night. Besides, it makes no sense to have not sold the particular sections they did.

No matter how you spin it I can't see how Sydney III was a sell out.
