Local Time: 07:36 AM | Entertainment Tonight. www.et.com Cult Classic To Stage Fantastic Senior Editor: Bob Goen Variety magazine has just announced that production is in the works to bring the Bruce Willis vehicle Die Hard to the small stage. Early reports indicate that veteran movie Producer Jerry Bruckheimer will collaborate with long-time musical craftsman Andrew Lloyd Webber, to update the cult film to a musical audience. However, insiders have told ET that pre-production has been hindered by conflicts pertaining to the content of the stageplay. "It's simply been a disaster. The Production team is in discussion about the dynamics of this project, as the explicit content of the film has brought about concern."- Webber. Although Webber admits that the problems plaguing the musical are ever-present, he feels optimistic that the Broadway crowds will welcome this change of pace. Bruckheimer (whose production credits include Top Gun, The Rock, and The Vagina Monologues) has noted that working with Webber has allowed him to explore new facets in the action genre. "[Webber] brings a whole new dimension to this Action Opera. For instance, in the original movie McClane (the character made famous by Bruce Willis) would often become frustrated with his disposition. Causing him to spout off in verbal rants of vulgarity... For those shallow spots in the script, Andrew suggested that our stage adaptation department modify the outbursts. Andrew has dubbed them as 'Profane Soliloquies'. They really add more to the message of the production. And it's more affordable than including all the pyrotechnic death scenes I had in order"- Bruckheimer. Bruce Willis has declined comment at this point in time. But in a past interview with ET, Willis expressed his feelings about the rumors. "Well I always found the McClane character to be the most relatable to the general public. Some people say he was comical and depressed. But there's a certain music to the way he expresses himself."- Willis. Casting for the role of McClane is a hot topic of conversation in the Hollywood scene. The name of Ben Stiller has been used often in talks with the production company, althought they will not confirm at this moment in time. Stiller's agent has said that commitments to shooting Zoolander 2 may determine whether Ben will take on the Action Opera role. ET has recovered this exclusive song listing for the musical, pegged for an early 2004 opening: "Hans Gruber, You're a Butt Luber" "Die, Die Terrorist, Die Die You Wont Be Missed" "Shooting Guns Make Me Happy" "No fu**ing sh** lady. Do I sound like I'm ordering a pizza?" "Yippee Ki Yay, Mother Fu**er" "Oh shit, this has been a really bad day" Courtesy of ET.com. Thanks u2popmofo for the exclusive |

Local Time: 10:36 AM | it's ll about changing target audiences--they want the action/adventure crowd to grow an appreciation for singing and dancing. x3: the musical as the last person to know that hugh jackman sings, i still am allowed to find that joke funny |
