Password Protect an External Hard Drive

Hello all,

I've got an external hard drive with some ... sensitive material on it. I would like to set it up so that you need a password to open the drive. The problem is that my wife is using Windows 7 and I'm on a mac.

Does anyone know of a way to protect the drive but still have it available to both systems?

Thanks,

I would encrypt it if it is sensitive material. Encryption software can also use passwords, or "dongles" (a USB device that has to be connected in order to access the drive).

Download TrueCrypt: TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source On-The-Fly Disk Encryption Software for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux

It works great. I use it for my thumb drive.

This sounds like a warning I get when PowerPoint crashes.
