What's that song they came out to? / Intro Songs?

Ok so we know the song is Kingdom and that Gavin has mentioned it before, but is there confirmation somewhere that Kingdom is a (future) Gavin Friday song?

bc, I went looking around last night, and it's not a song of his that's out, as far as I could tell - and I looked at his solo albums, soundtracks and scores. I also read on his MySpace page that he's planning on releasing a new album next year, but if it's not till then, I'm wondering if he'd even have a fully prepared version of the song ready now.

I've listened to it multiple times, and there's obviously a lot of vocal layering, but I'd almost bet money that Bono is one of the voices. If it is Gavin's song, then maybe Bono sang on it?

Someone in Barca needs to get on this investigation now.

^ I dug around in the Gavin info too and didn't come up with anything about the song, that's why I've been wondering why people have been saying they think it's a Gavin Friday song. How did people come up with this besides the one time Gavin posted Kingdom... soon. Is that the only thing people are basing the speculation that it's his song on?

Right, someone go find Gavin and make him talk.

Is it possible that the song Kingdom of Your Love that is on the list hanging behind Edge in the NLOTH book could have just been shortened to Kingdom? (or they are just calling it that like a nickname) :hmm:

It didn't sound like Gavin to me, but I haven't heard a high quality version yet :hmm: Either way, it's starting to grow on me.

It sounds the lovechild of "Because" by the Beatles and Your Blue Room - and it sounds like U2. I'm not sold on this Gavin Friday thing yet.

I REALLY like it, that's for sure.

Oooh yeah Because

and yeah, that's what I've been asking, why it's been getting said it's a Gavin song.

Sing yourself on down the street
Sing yourself right off your feet
Sing yourself away from victory and from defeat
Sing yourself with (?)
Sing yourself to hold my gun
The toughness of someone's lost
And someone else has won

Is that what he's singing or am I too sleepy to try this?
(Btw, having heard this a bunch of times now on that video... I'm sure Bono is on this somewhere, even if it's not U2. And Eno too.)

Close!

I hear:

Sing yourself on down the street
Sing yourself right off your feet
Sing yourself away from victory and from defeat
Sing yourself with fife and drum
Sing yourself to overcome
The thought that someone's lost
And someone else has won

Yup, guess you've nailed it!
"Thought that" makes more sense :hmm: and I really wasn't liking that "hold my gun" part. But seriously, it's "to overcome" for sure. Still not sure on "fife and drum" but it sounds right anyway.

EDIT: Heard it again; "fife and drum" seems correct also. And for Christ's sake, Bono's voice timbre is in there and his voice isn't that commom. What I wonder now if this is some cool intro they've recorded especifically for this or if it's a new song just waiting to be released.
AND for those of you thinking it's Gavin, just listen "In the Name of the Father". It can't be the same person.

This has to be a song from "Songs of Ascent." It's got a distinct Moroccan feel to it, it has a Passengers feel to it, it had to come from the Fez sessions (or inspired by them). I'd bet the bank on it. It's got a meditative sound as well, which Bono has already discussed.

These guys are smart...they tease the new album at shows all Summer long and into the Fall, and before Halloween, bang...we have a new album that we will have already heard parts of. If it is called Kingdom, then Gavin Friday is helping his guys out and going viral for them. :hmm:

love this song! just heard it at the end of that clip...loved it, and looked up the lyrics on google and was linked back to interference! I hope this is from SOA

What song plays as U2 walks on stage?

Anyone knows something about the intro song??

Thanks!

Kingdom by Gavin Friday, with Bono vocals.

If any of the mods read this, would it be an idea to have one sticky thread on top with this? I remember about a gazillion of threads asking the same thing during the VT, so perhaps it saves a lot of work?
